CERAMIC COATING VS. CLEAR BRA (PPF)

When protecting your car from possible damage it’s easy to get lost in all of the different products and processes available. Should you get one, both, everything, or just stick with what you’re already doing? It’s hard to know exactly what’s right for your vehicle. Sometimes the best option is actually combining different products for ultimate protection. Essentially when it comes to protecting your car, the best option is to get both a paint protection film (such as clear bra) and a ceramic coating. Let’s look at the details.

Essentially, while both have the ultimate goal of making a car look newer for longer periods of time, they have very different specialties that make their combination the best of both worlds. Clear bra, is an actual film that covers the paint of your car, this means that it actually protects the paint from rock chips, scratches and swirl marks because there is no physical contact with your paint. Paint protection films also have a self-healing property due to the chemical composition. This means that the film is able to absorb the damage without being permanently disfigured. In addition to physical damage the film still protects from chemical stains, oxidation, and water spots, which ultimately keeps ones car looking better longer.

Now, you might read that and think, then what is the benefit to having a ceramic coating too? That comes with the ease of keeping your car cleaner on a daily basis. With the hydrophobic properties of a ceramic coating that makes your car much easier to maintain on a day-to-day basis. Because of its sealing and hardening properties, the glass like finish helps to harden your topcoat or film to enhance the glossy finish of your vehicle while helping to maintain the ease of maintenance.

The choice still comes down to what is best for your vehicle and needs. The paint protection film can help with physical damage from harsh environmental conditions. Ceramic coating has some of these properties while also helping to keep your vehicle cleaner on a daily basis. Not everyone needs the ultimate protection of both treatments, but some do, and that is up to you.
